ethan's apples

my nephew's first trip to the orchard was on a warm, fall day. the trees were just low enough for him to grasp on his own, but only after some effort.

he and his mama just slowly walked through the orchard, picking out the perfect apples.

and then dumping them:)

ethan's hard work paid off into two apple pies, an apple crips, with a 1/2 bushel left to share.

Miniature Chairs

Last summer I found these two darling chairs marked "Free" at a yard sale. After thinking through a few ideas and looking for just the right way to refinish them I settled on covering them with fabric. I tore off some gross contact paper with padding and the wood underneath was salvageable. I simply added a thin layer of new padding and covered it with fabric. It was a simple project that cost next to nothing, took just a half yard of fabric and was so much fun to finish! What fun to find something with such potential at the right price!

a gift

It is nice when a friend innocently mentions something they would love to have. To be able to give someone just what they want is so satisfying. I am more often on the receiving end, getting a gift that I adore.

When my little girl was constantly taking her brother's blanket to cuddle with, I took the hint. Out of the softest material I could find, and with silky binding, I made her a blanky of her own. To see that gift being enjoyed on a daily basis is a gift in itself!
